     Federico Cantú ( circa 1957 )                                             Alfredo Ramos Martinez ( circa 1946 )   1871 Ramos Martinez 1871-1946 Como escribió el reconocido poeta nicaragüense Rubén Darío, “Ramos Martínez es de los que pinta poemas; no copia, interpreta; entiende cómo expresar el dolor del pescador y la melancolía del pueblo”. Ramos Martínez nació en 1871 en Monterrey, Nuevo León, noveno hijo de Jacobo Ramos y su esposa Luisa Martínez. Su padre fue un exitoso comerciante de joyería, telas finas, plata, trajes bordados y sarapes tejidos a mano de Saltillo. Desde pequeño, Ramos Martínez fue reconocido como un talento prodigioso. Como estudiante, su medio preferido era la acuarela y ganó numerosos premios por sus logros. This popular conception is as erroneous as would be the idea that all Mediterranean and European art is represented by that of the French or English in the eighteenth century.
